First debut art auction in Kenya ‘records 90 percent sales’



About 90 percent of 47 lots put on sales at Kneya’s debut art auction held in Nairobi on Tuesday were sold, the auction house, Circle Art Agency has said.

Tagged Modern and Contemporary East African Art Auction, the total lots sold, according to the organisers "was a real success”. The leading lots in the sales, a painting entitled  Celebration, by late Ugandan artist, Geoffrey Mukasa "was sold for almost $20,000 (1.7 million Kenya shillings, 14,700 euros)".
A total sale of more than $200,000 for the lots was recorded at an auction that "had packed room of audience".
