Reports say it was just when the credits rolled that Singh took to the stage along with actor, Idris Elba, and announced to the audience. The immediate gasps that followed from the audience, it was reported was very audible across the cinema. Among the audience were Britain's Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge
Catherine Middleton.
Singh was quoted: "I wanted to advise you that President Zuma of South Africa has announced the passing of Madiba at 9:30 tonight. He stated that Madiba had departed and was at peace. 'Our nation has lost it's greatest son.'
But two of Mandela's daughters, Zindzi and Zenani, seated inside the cinema wanted the movie to continue -- and our hearts and prayers go out to everybody. Can I call for a minute of silence?".

Few days ahead of the London Royal Premiere, the film was announced as breaking box office record of South African cinema after few weeks of showing.
