In London, Artists, scholars meet at 1:54 Contemporary African Fair

For the first time, African art gets a fair outside the continent as new entrant, 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair opens at Somerset House yesterday, 16 October 2013. 

The fair, which ends on October 20 will present 17 exhibitors to showcase over 70 established and emerging artists from the African continent and the Diaspora.

Some of the artists include Meschac Gaba, Edson Chagas, Maïmouna Guerresi, Baudouin Mouanda and Sokari Douglas Camp.

Visitors are invited to attend 1:54's five-day conversation series 1:54 Forum and associate film programme, curated by Koyo Kouoh, which will encompass keynote lectures, panel discussions and artist talks with leading figures from the contemporary art sphere.
