Alakija who is the founder of an NGO, Rose of Sharon Foundation (ROSF) reiterated her commitment to the service of humanity in alleviating the sufferings of the less privileged people.
She added that “God has not called me into politics and I have never been involved in politics.”

Late last year, Alakija was honoured by Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos, for her entrepreneurial skill and philanthropic activities.

Folorunsho Alakija has denied campaigning for Lagos State governorship race,
purportedly being carried out on her behalf.
In a statement, Alakija noted that posters and
fliers carrying her name and picture as a Lagos State governorship aspirant
were circulating in Ikorodu and some parts of the state few days ago. Alakija,
a native of Ikorodu. a Lagos suburb, refuted the publicity as untrue, and that
she has no such ambition.

"It has come to my notice that there are
posters and fliers being circulated in Ikorodu and other parts of Lagos State,
announcing me as a governorship aspirant,” Alakija said. "This is not true
and I hereby state that I have no such intention.”
