Director at Smithsonian National Museum of African Art,
Johnneta Cole, explains why she collected $716,000 from Bill Cosby and included
60 pieces of his personal collection for an exhibit still showing at the
Washington facility.
Opened last
November, the exhibition titled Conversations, which thematically,
brings together African and African
American artworks in a visual and intellectual dialogue, has ben generating
controversy for including Cosby collection.
Cole states that being “someone deeply committed to human rights for all people,” as
well as “my long-standing engagement with women’s issues,” she felt “devastated
by the allegations and revelations surrounding Bill Cosby.” Cole pours out her feeling. “I must also say
