Director at Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Johnneta Cole, explains why she collected $716,000 from Bill Cosby and included 60 pieces of his personal collection for an exhibit still showing at the Washington facility.

Opened last November, the exhibition titled Conversations, which thematically,  brings together African and African American artworks in a visual and intellectual dialogue, has ben generating controversy for including Cosby collection.

Cole states that being “someone deeply committed to human rights for all people,” as well as “my long-standing engagement with women’s issues,” she felt “devastated by the allegations and revelations surrounding Bill Cosby.”  Cole pours out her feeling. “I must also say that in no way will I ever condone anyone committing sexual violence against women and girls.” Read more.
