In the next two and half months, hope
of a global uniform deal for artists’ rights would get attention when the World
Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) meets in Geneva, this December.
At its last conference, a delegation of art world, copyright and
government experts from eight countries – including representatives of EU called for an international review of royalty rights for artists. Senegal,
Ivory Coast, Brazil and representatives of EU countries, according to WIPO,
backed a universal solution. (Details, coming).
