Ooni of Ife Celebrates Watercolour Masters at 'The Content' Art Show

Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye
When watercolour masters gather in Lagos for The Content - Spring Edition art exhibition, holding from April 1-30, 2018 at Adam&Eve, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, a royal blessing will be received. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), will unveil the art exhibition of watercolour masters.
According to the curator of the exhibition, Lekan Onabanjo, the Ooni of Ife will be the father
of the day to unveil the one month long art exhibition
Ini Brown, Tayo Adenaike, Sam Ovraiti, Olu Ajayi, Lekan Onabanjo, Kehinde Sanwo and Victor Obasuyi are  contemporary watercolour masters for The Content- Spring Edition. Adam&Eve started The Content art exhibition series last year with the mission of expanding art appreciation outside the regular art hubs of Lagos and Victoria Islands.
However, the projection of the luxury items store, Adam&Eve in promoting art appreciation on the mainland appears to be yielding results. "About ninety percent of people who buy art here since we started The Content exhibitions are not the usual collectors," the CEO of Adam&Eve, Mrs Modupe Ogunlesi  disclosed. "The idea is to see art that can sell in the future by also encouraging more people to collect and promote young artists along with the old masters." Ogunlesi advised that "artists should let the next generation know who you are."
Adam&Eve started the series in mid-2017 with The Content and later showed The Content - Harmattan Edition at the same venue.  The third edition is focusing watercolour as medium that the exhibiting artists are using  to bring back the medium into the fore of art appreciation.
Ogunlesi noted that Ikeja, being the capital of Lagos State where so many activities in business happen regularly, should be used to promote art appreciation as well.
Onabanjo said the coming show is aimed at keeping the watercolour medium alive among artists and patrons. “We are showing watercolour because the medium is gradually dying,” Onabanjo stated. “We have chosen the select masters who have made marks in the medium over the decades," Onabanjo assured. "The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi has agreed to unveil the exhibition."
Despite the complexity of controlling the flow, and size challenge, artists of The Content - Spring Edition assured they they have the experience required to make a great come-back for watercolour. With the new set of artists showing at Adam&Eve, the list keeps growing.  Dr. Bruce Onobrakpeya, Kolade Oshinowo, Raqib Bashorun, Zinno Orara, Duke Asidere, Fidelis Odogwu, Juliet Ezenwa, Francis Uduh, Ibe Ananaba, Damola Adepoju among others also showed in the first two editions.
