Sotheby's bring Africa's modern masters, contemporary artists to London

Tomorrow, Sotheby’s second dedicated auction of Modern and Contemporary African Art will feature the biggest names from the continent's art market, in London. The sale will include what the auction house described as "a carefully selected collection of paintings, photographs, drawings and sculpture from the 20th and 21st centuries from across the African continent." But works for sale cone "with a strong focus on the postcolonial era."
Artists include Ibrahim Mahama, Njideka Akunyili Crosby and Pascale Marthine Tayou alongside works by Mohau Modisakeng, Athi-Patra Ruga, El Anatsui, Irma Stern,
Nicholas Hlobo, William Kentridge and Ben Enwonwu.
Indeed, the auction appears like an unprecedented gathering of top names in African Art at a single auction.
