For sixth '1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair', over 130 artists hit London

With 42 art galleries and over 130 artists from around the world, 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair hit its sixth London edition, to be held at Somerset House, 4-7 October 2018.


The fair, in a press statement says emerging and established artists working in a wide variety of mediums join 11 new galleries to the London edition. The organisers note that for the first time,  ADN Galeria, Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Kristin Hjellegjerde and Yossi Milo Gallery, among others are participating.

Also, featuring is
1-54 FORUM, the fair’s extensive talks and events programme, including artists talks, film screenings and panel discussions.  FORUM will be curated for the first time, by writer and curator Ekow Eshun.

The statement adds: "Building on the success of the expanded non-profit Special Projects, 1-54 will present a variety of collateral exhibitions, including a solo show by Athi-Patra Ruga, titled Of Gods, Rainbows and Omissions presented in partnership with Somerset House, running until the 7 January 2019".
